Son, Rick, lives with his wife, Brigid, in South Dade. Daughter Amy, also lives in South Dade and attended FIU majoring in music.

EDUCATION

M.Ed. (Secondary Administration), University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, 1970 B.A. (English and Humanities), Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, 1964 [I lasted one quarter in the Lutheran Seminary at Capital, and then dropped out to pursue what I then regarded as the only other responsible choice open to me as a young husband: teaching.]

EMPLOYMENT

English Teacher (Miami Springs Senior High School )      1965-1969

My first 3 years I taught English to students of varying abilities. I also taught a Humanities course, a film study/production course, and coordinated a school-wide feature film program. My fourth year I took over from Philip Giberson as Drama teacher/director.

Program Officer, Dade County Community Relations Board     1970-1972

My first I was an Intergroup Relations Specialist, working as staff adjunct to the CRB's Forum Program wherein the Board met monthly to hear specific complaints from community groups regarding police/community conflicts, school desegregation problems spilling over into local neighborhoods and other racial, religious or ethnic group frictions that arose in Dade's various municipalities and unincorporated areas. My second year as Program Officer I was responsible for initiating and coordinating the establishment of six District Advisory Councils consisting of community leaders from business, the clergy, education, law enforcement and other community groups, to do, in a more decentralized way, what the Forum attempted to do for the whole county. Conflict prevention, conflict intervention and resolution, and rumor control were a primary responsibilities of these councils.

Media Center Director, Wilde Lake High School      1972-1974

For two years I served as the Department Head of the schools's media center and was responsible for overseeing the daily use and management of the center's audiovisual and print resources for the student population of approximately 1200, grades 10 - 12. I also initiated a Speaker's Bureau where prominent local people came to speak to groups of students on topics of current interest. Performed in "Town and Gown" productions of "Oliver" (Fagin) and "Antigone" (Creon). Decided that what I really wanted to be was an actor.

English Teacher, Oakland Mills High School      1974-1976

Taught junior English in a more traditional school. Performed title role in "The Man Who Came to Diner" for school play. Resigned my position in June, 1976, and pursued work as an actor in the Baltimore-Washington area until 1978. Subsequently, I've worked as an actor for 20 years: 14 in New York City, and the last 6 in LA. (See Acting Resume for a partial listing of credits.)
