MiniReunion

On June 20 - 22, 1997 a "mini reunion" was held at the Langford Resort Hotel in Winter Park, Florida. The reunion consisted primarily of those Hialeah High School Class of 1960 members who had established a network of alumni who were active on the internet. These "netizins" served as a nucleus for this event, and hopefully, for many similar events in the future.

KENNA'S COMMENTS

Dear Thoroughbreds,

A group of us (21 in all including partners) met this past weekend (June 20-22, 1997) at the luxurious Langford in downtown Winter Park, Florida. This botanical complex of hotel, motel, apartments with it's fiftyish motif was perfect for our gathering. We hung out together and had a fabulous weekend. Yes, we revisited the past, talked about those that weren't present but more important we shared our lives, our interests and plans for the future. We learned, for instance, that Dennis Anson, known as Doc, has been a race car driver, that Dick Durgee collects diving helmets and his wife Sue makes dolls, that Burdette Lamar (not present in person but sent a heart warming communication delivered by Jeannie Moon) has connected with his teenage sweetheart, Cheryl Brown (Class of 1960), via e-mail and are to marry sometime before Christmas and Pat Curtis gave us a recipe for punch where you add Vodka to taste. Some of the group visited the Imperial Tombs exhibit at the Orlando Museum. It was relaxing, affirming and purely wonderful. We vowed to do it annually and dubbed it "Same Time Next Year" (STNY).

At breakfast on Saturday morning we had "a family meeting" to plan for the "Same Time Next Year" and the 40th reunion in the year 2000 (Dennis Anson a self appointed parliamentarian held up Que cards so we could keep straight which project we were talking about) we vowed also to reach out to you and then to others in our class. In addition to having a wonderful time, we made two major decisions: to meet again every year and to start now planning for the 40th and beyond.
