STNY 2007 A great success!

You missed a lot of fun and fellowship if you weren't in Daytona June 22 to June 24, 2007. Thank you Fred and Janice Krumm for the arrangements at the Hampton Inn and our Saturday dinner at Caribbean Jacks in Daytona Beach.

At the Sunday morning meeting it was decided to meet in Mount Dora, FL (northwest of Orlando) at a new Hampton Inn checked out by Sandy Shell Hatos.

More on this later. Mark you calendars for June 27, 28, & 29, 2008.

The group also decided to contribute $500 from our STNY funds to the Jeff Giordano Scholarship Fund. Phil Giberson is preparing an updated report of the students receiving assistance from this scholarship. Check our web page for these reports. There will also be information on the web page to individually contribute to the Class of 1960 Jeffrey Giordano Scholarship Fund. - Sandra Frye Patrick, Sandra4264@aol.com

Lighthouse Point Park - "Volusia hits beach top 10 for first time" PONCE INLET -- "Dr. Beach" loved the view of the inlet, the boardwalk meandering over palmetto-covered dunes, and a lifeguard keeping a watch over swimmers. And, most importantly -- it was a Volusia beach that you drove to, not drove on. Those were the factors that won Lighthouse Point Park a coveted spot on the top 10 of America's best beaches -- the first time Dr. Beach, aka Stephen P. Leatherman, picked a Volusia beach for the list, which has been nationally publicized since 1991.
"When you think of Daytona Beach, you think it's all driving beaches, but this is a beautiful beach," Leatherman said of the Volusia park. "It has beautiful vegetation with a great boardwalk and lifeguards, parking and amenities. It has everything I look for in a beach."

MAP

The registration fee for the weekend is $25 per person, which should be payable to: HHS ‘60 Same Time Next Year. Send your check to Sandra Frye Patrick, 2816 Tulane Drive, Cocoa, FL 32926. (This has nothing to do with the hotel registration, it is the way we pay for the hospitality room and other incidentals.)

After you check in, we can meet in the lobby area and then move to the studio room to get caught up on all that’s happened since we met last. Bring your favorite beverage and a small snack of choice to share .

Let me know you are planning to attend and I'll pass it on. See you soon.

There is a large lobby area, where a free continental breakfast is served and between 4:00 and 10:00 pm wine, beer and cocktails are served for $3 a pop. We will have a studio room to use for our hospitality room which has a entrance directly off the pool in addition to the door off the hallway. It has a microwave and small refrigerator.

The great thing about this accommodation is the location. It is located near the airport and there are many, many restaurants within walking distance. Cancun Lagoon (good Mexican) and Olive Garden directly next door. It is also directly across the street from the Daytona Mall and for Nascar fans, Daytona USA (http://www.daytonausa.com/) and Daytona Speedway are just a few blocks down the street. A greatest Flea Market is just a couple of miles away, which is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The beach is about ten minutes away( 5 miles) and there is also an old downtown area of Daytona where there are a few antique shops and restaurants. (possibility for browsing on Sat. afternoon). There are also boat cruises available with and without food and we have a Sun Cruz Casino Cruise Ship here.

We will be having Saturday evening dinner at Caribbean Jacks.
