The STNY 2012 group had a great time again at The Waterfront Hotel, Lake Sumpter Landing - The Villages. There was the usual meet, greet and catch up in the hospitality room. Those unable to be a part of this year’s group were missed.

For the record, the attendees were: Marty Aaron; Jim Boston, Larry Camp; Richard & Linda Craig, Marguerite Geraghty (1961) & Bobby Desbrow (1959); Eddie (1964) and Andrea Stregary (1967) Frye, Phil Giberson; Judy Herold & Gary Penley, Pat Hinken & Tom Arnold; Donna Lampart Catlett, Nancy Lapidus (1959) & Ron Woodward, Mike & Jeanie Lay Nicklos; Charles Midgette (1958) & Eva Halpern, Claudia Nixon & Michael Fauver, Gini Seamans Parker; John & Sandra Frye Patrick; Judy Cropp Ricker (and her sister Marcia Cropp Johnson (1968) for dinner), Lorraine Davis and Jerry Simpkins; Bob Shalley, and Jack Whicker.

Now that the Class of “60 has reached 70, we had many tales to tell about, surgeries, procedures, physical therapy, and medical conditions we have had or will experience. We also remembered those who are no longer with us. The list is growing. We need to appreciate the times we are still able to gather, to share memories and make new ones. After dinner some of us went back to the hospitality room, some stopped off at the hotel lounge to listen/dance but finally made it back to the hospitality room to continue catching up from last year, by looking at pictures/yearbooks and getting reacquainted.

After Saturday breakfast, some set off to play golf, go shopping, walk around the Square or lounge around the hotel. Since we had our picture in front of the hotel in 2011, someone suggested we go to the restaurant for our group photo shoot this year. Jack Whicker took the group picture.

Saturday evening we dined at the Tiera Del Sol, and were entertained by a singing group, Danny & Johnny - Dynamic Duo of Harmony, who graced us with “our” music. The dance floor was filled. Then back to the hotel. The hotel lounge again had a music group which was enjoyed by many of us, some listening and some dancing.

As usual after breakfast on Sunday morning we met to decide where we will be next year. Phil Giberson gave a short update on Lilibet Sosa, one of the students given support from the Jeff Giordano Scholarship Fund. Our group voted to contribute $500 from our STNY monies. Phil will send a more detailed report on Lilibet’s progress for the web page.

Anyone can make a contribution. Contributions are tax deductible and checks should be made out to: "College Assistance Program, Inc." with a notation in the memo portion of the check: "HHS '60 - Jeff Giordano Fund" -- Donations should be sent to: Philip Giberson; 570 Glen Way; Miami Springs, FL 33166. Checks received will be consolidated and deposited with Robert Weintraub, Development Officer, Dade Community Foundation, who administers the C.A.P., Inc fund. The donor will receive an acknowledgement of their tax-deductible scholarship donation from C.A.P., Inc. .

Everyone seemed happy with The Villages and voted to come back again in 2013 Jerry and Lorraine have graciously agreed to make the arrangements again. There are several HHS grads now living in The Villages.

Remember, we call this event “Same Time Next Year” so mark your 2013 calendars for Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 23. That is the weekend after Father’s Day.

To seek, to find, to share.
