Howdy,

I’m not quite sure how this works, but it seems the worse my golf game gets the better our reunions become??! If anyone can explain that please let me know.

This note is really intended for those who were unable to join us on Marco Island this weekend: You were thought of, asked about and missed. For my part, these get-togethers get warmer each year and we are sorry you couldn’t be with us. And, we hope to see you …. same time next year.

Folks volunteered to investigate the following promising sites for STNY 20011: Kenna Noone will check out Cabbage Key near Tampa; Marty Aaron will look into Amelia Island north of Jacksonville; and Gerry Simpkins and his wife Lorraine are going to size up The Villages in central Florida north of Orlando. Since folks up north had to drive a ways to get to Marco Island, the consensus was to try for a location further north for next year.

As in the past, the details for each potential venue will be forwarded to Sandra Patrick by the first of the year, and she will then circulate the options and we will vote on where we want to go; lobbying for favored site had already started before we left Sunday! All proposed locations sound like they would be fun.

The prize for coming furthest from the east went to Bill and Anna Woehr (Spain), and from the west, Lester and Sandy Cunningham (Eugene, Oregon), and from the north, Jude Hughes-Williams (Wayzata, Minnesota).

In closing, I have copied a note and a link (Ultra Deep Field) that was waiting upon my return Sunday afternoon. It seemed like a fitting ending to a perfect weekend.

Big hugs,

Phil G

UPDATE ON UPDATE:

Several items have been brought to my attention: Les Cunningham, while agreeing with me that his wife was terrific, pointed out that her name is Diane, not Sandy - thank you Les (my apologies to Diane); and from Sandra Patrick, although Dennis “Dock” Anson and his wife Susan came to Marco Island from their condo in Boynton
Beach, they still maintain a residence in Quebec and therefore should at least share in the honor of coming from the furthest north.
